Do you have some free time, kid free? Why not try out some of these fun date ideas for parents, either on your own or with your partner?

As parents it can be so easy to forget about our own need for adventures and new experiences. I completely understand!
So if you feel like you’re stuck in a rut of using your child free time to clean or play catch up, and you never feel rested or restored, then why not give these date ideas for parents a whirl, and see if you feel like you’re living again?!
Water Sports
You may have noticed the new craze of Paddle Boarding, and that’s because it’s a fantastic, and I find quite calming way of keeping active and having FUN!
But there’s not just paddle boarding. You can choose from canoeing (open top if you’re not trained with the ones that close around you), jet skis, water skis, inflatable obstacle courses and more!
What a great way to spend a day?!
Indoor Obstacle Course
An indoor obstacle course park (for adults) is such a childhood relived kind of way to spend a day, and I’m here for it! If you’ve never heard of them before, check out this Total Ninja park in Manchester! They are an intense and exhilarating way to spend a day!
Cinema Date
Why not take yourself on a date to the cinema? Watch something that isn’t a cartoon, and enjoy a full movie without the fear of your toddler throwing a mid movie tantrum for all to see, haha!
Hiking
Nature restores.
It doesn’t always work, but when it does it is the best.
I know that sometimes the thought of taking yourself for a lone hike may seem terrifying, but it can be absolutely magical. It gives you time to really work through your thoughts and feelings, with no expectations on your shoulders.
If you are uncomfortable on your own, why not meet with a friend or two?
Outdoor Assault Course
Have you heard of Go Ape or similar?
More and more outdoor assault courses are popping up around the world now, because I think we are slowly learning that joyful movement and tree climbing doesn’t have to stop (and shouldn’t stop) at childhood.
Make your way up into the trees, and do a George of the Jungle for an afternoon!
Swimming
How long has it been since you last went for a swim?
Swimming is not only a great way to move your body, it’s also a super gentle way to do it too, in case you’re unable to do anything high impact.
And even if you’re unable to move much at all, the water is so restorative just by floating around.
A Book Date
What’s more magical than being surrounded by books, coffee in hand?!
You can opt for the library, or you could hunt down a beautiful, second hand book store complete with cafe (our personal favourite is Scarthin Books in Cromford). Why not spend a day consumed by a paper adventure?!
Crazy Golf
Indoor Crazy Golf is another childhood activity that’s become an adult craze recently!
From jungle themed, to pirate, and restaurants to bars, these crazy golf places have whatever it is you’re looking for in a day out, child free!
Go For a Meal Out
While you don’t have to worry about anyone else’s food preferences or dietary requirements, why not take yourself for a meal out at a restaurant of YOUR choosing?!
Take an Art Class
Do you want to get in touch with your creative side? Why not look into a local, art class? It’s something a little different and it will feed your creativity.
Learn Pottery Making
Another creative endeavour.
Why not get yourself a little messy, and try out a local, pottery course? With the added bonus of bringing home your creations!
Go to a Cookery Class
Do you LOVE to cook/bake and try out new recipes or techniques? Then this one could be for you. There are so many different styles of cooking that you’re sure to find something to push your comfort zone, and to keep you engaged!
Try a New Workout Class
(If you are physically able) Why not try out a new, workout class or type?
It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut with moving our bodies at times, so keep looking for new and fun ways to get moving! It could be spin, boxing, pole dancing, weightlifting, zumba, disco… Whatever takes your fancy!
Take a Dance Class
This is an extension of the last one, but trying out dancing can be a really fun and engaging hobby. Whether it be ballroom, disco, hip hop, Latin or more, finding a type of dance and enjoying it is a great way to spend your day.
These are just a few ways I can think of, but there are so many options and classes available now that the possibilities are endless!
Have you tried a special day for yourself as a parent? What did you do?
